    Alan Stern, MD
    Dr. Alan Stern was born in DuBois, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Villanova
    University. He obtained his medical degree at Thomas Jefferson University in
    Philadelphia. His residency was at Thomas Jefferson and its affiliated Wills Eye
    Hospital, and he completed his training with fellowships at the University of
    Connecticut in cataract and corneal surgery.
    Dr. Stern has thirty years’ experience in ophthalmic surgery, with special interest in
    cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and laser refractive procedures. He is a
    founding member of Precision LASIK Group, Chief of Ophthalmology at The Hospital
    of Central Connecticut, and co-medical director of the Connecticut eye bank.
    In addition to his surgical practice, he is on the board of Vision Health International,
    an organization providing eye care and surgery to indigent patients in Central and
    South America.
    Dr. Stern is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, board certified
    and re-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of
    Connecticut Eye Society. Dr. Stern resides in Farmington, CT with his wife, and
    enjoys life with his two sons and two grandchildren.
    David E. Sowa, MD
    Dr. David Sowa is an established and highly skilled physician with over 25 years of
    experience in obstetrics and gynecology. He is well regarded in the central
    Connecticut community, earning numerous accolades for his quality and patientcentered care. In 2014, he was named a Top Doctor among the Southington, Bristol,
    and Plainville areas by The Observer’s Reader’s Choice Awards. He also received
    Compassionate Doctor Recognition for four consecutive years and the Patient’s
    Choice Award for seven years.
    Dr. Sowa is active in the community and has spent 17 years with The Greater New
    Britain Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. Additionally, with several office staff
    fluent in Polish, Dr. Sowa and his practice are well in tune to the local Polish
    community. He takes great pride in the care provided by the Family BirthPlace team
    at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, having delivered his own three children at
    the hospital. Dr. Sowa’s passion is driven by the bonds he builds with his patients
    over the course of their lives and the enjoyment he holds in keeping them healthy
    and well.

    Molly Nathanson, MSN, CNM
    Molly Nathanson MSN, CNM is originally from Massachusetts where she attended
    Brandeis University for her undergraduate degrees in Health: Science, Society, and
    Policy, as well as Sculpture. In her junior year at Brandeis, she spent a semester
    abroad in Kenya studying the midwives of the Maasai tribe, solidifying her decision
    to become a midwife.
    Molly later attended Columbia University’s accelerated nursing program and
    continued on to get her master’s degree in their Nurse-Midwifery program. While
    attending Columbia, she trained and volunteered as a doula in New York City. Molly
    explains, “I love supporting women and empowering them through all walks of life
    and I see myself as a partner in their OB and GYN healthcare. I especially enjoy
    building relationships and working with young women to help them as they
    establish their healthcare goals and needs.”
    In her spare time, Molly enjoys traveling, metal and fiber art, cooking, and spending
    time outdoors. She is conversant in German and American Sign Language. She is
    very excited to be part of Starling Physicians and is proud to work with such a
    fantastic team of practitioners.
    Pamela Haskins, CNM
    Pamela S. Haskins, CNM is originally from Springfield, MA. She received her nursing
    degree from Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in Fitchburg, MA. Pamela received
    her Certificate in Nurse-Midwifery from Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
    Pamela’s interests are in gynecology, contraception, and pregnancy care. Although
    she is no longer doing births, Pamela has delivered over 700 babies.
    Pamela enjoys travel, spending time with her family, and restoring furniture. She
    also is involved in medical missions donating her time and expertise in clinics and
    hospitals. She has been to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Kenya and is schedule to
    go to Tanzania in July, 2016. Pamela is also fluent in Spanish.
